Current Selection

It's time to read the book selection for August - October, The Monk of Mokha by author Dave Eggers. Join us as we explore this true story of a young Yemeni-American man, raised in San Francisco, who dreams of resurrecting the ancient art of Yemeni coffee but finds himself trapped in Sana'a by civil war.

Reading Schedule

On August 4th, visit Before the Book in our forum and begin reading The Monk of Mokha
By August 18th, finish reading through Chapter X, “The Statue”
By August 25th, finish reading through Chapter XX, “Hamood and Hubayshi”
By September 1st, finish reading through Chapter XXV, “A Country Without a Government”
By September 15th, finish reading through Chapter XXXIV, “A Quick Death from a Clean Blade”
By September 22nd, finish reading the book and join our After the Book forum discussion
